WHAT TO BRING TO THE ANDES
Passport must always be carried with you or a color copy. When traveling by land always bring the real passport military check are sometime often. Also if you are going to use credit cards a valid passport is require verifying signature. Dressing up in layers is very advantageous since the climate can vary from 5*C to 25*c in some areas. After sunset the temperature always drops and a good jacket is always required. Comfortable footwear for walking or good pare of hiking shoes is a must, swimming suite just in case. Do not forget a fleece or a think sweater and a rain poncho or jacket. The sun in the highlands is strong do not be fooled, it burns so bring a hat or a cap. If you are traveling to the paramo a good pair pf gloves is advisable and a scarf, you can buy some if you forget.
Please do not forget you camera and a good pair of binoculars. If you are birdwatching binoculars are imperative, a copy of the “Birds of Ecuador” and a umbrella for the rainy cloud forests, robber boots can be bought or lent at local lodges. |
